Jagadish Chandra Bose (30 November 1858 – 23 November 1937 ) was a Bengali physicist , biologist and science fiction author. Practical and research science in the Indian subcontinent is credited to him.The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers calls him a father of radio science.

1917 – On the 60th birthday of Jagadish Chandra Bose , Bose Vigyan Mandir was inaugurated in Calcutta.

Bose Vigyan Mandir (Bose Institute) is one of the oldest and one of the premier research institutes in India. The Institute was founded in 1917 by Acharya Sir Jagdish Chandra Bose , the pioneer of modern scientific research in India , who was its Director for the first twenty years. After him, his nephew, Devendra Mohan Bose , was the director of the institute for the next twenty years.
