International Anti-Corruption Day is observed on 9 December every year since the adoption of the United Nations Convention against Corruption on 31 October 2003 to raise public awareness of anti-corruption.

The theme of the 2023 International Anti-Corruption Day: UNCAC@20: Uniting the World against Corruption, Olukoyede stated "The whole world must come together to fight corruption but expressed readiness to approach the international community for the recovery of stolen funds kept abroad."
This year's event to mark the 75th anniversary of the Genocide Convention will focus on the theme of “A Living Force in World Society: The Legacy of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide”.

Every year on 9 December the Office marks the adoption of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. Since 2015, by General Assembly resolution A/RES/69/323, that day also became the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime.
